Habitat for Humanity of the River Valley helps homeowners stay safe in the homes they love. If age, disability, or financial hardship makes it difficult to keep up with repairs, we’re here to help. We provide affordable home repairs and energy-saving improvements for eligible homeowners in Madison, Limestone, and Jackson Counties.

Reestablishing Comfort and Safety
The Home Repair Program provides affordable repairs that improve safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency. Common repairs we provide include HVAC replacements, porch repairs, and window replacements. We proudly serve eligible homeowners in Madison, Limestone, and Jackson Counties.

Eligibility
Who Qualifies for Home Repair?
To be considered for the Home Repair Program, applicants must meet the following four criteria.

Our Home Repair Program focuses on small- to medium-sized projects that make a real difference in daily life. Below are common repairs we complete for qualifying homeowners.

Applications can be submitted in three ways. Choose whichever method works best for you.
Get Ready
Preparing for an Application Window
All applications must be submitted with the documents below. At this time, Habitat is not able to make copies of documents, and we cannot accept documents submitted by email. All required documents must be submitted at the same time — incomplete applications will be denied.
Identification
- Valid ID for all applicants
- Social Security card or I-551 (Permanent Resident Card) for all applicants
Financial & Income
- Two most recent months of bank statements
- If working: 8 weekly paystubs, 4 bi-weekly, or 2 monthly
- Self-employed: last 2 years of federal tax returns (IRS Form 1040, all schedules, signed)
- Child support / Alimony: court order and proof of payment for the past 6 months
- Social Security / Disability: current award letter
Home Documents
- Proof of Homeowner’s Insurance
- Must own and live in the home as primary residence
- Up to date on property taxes, mortgage payments, and insurance premiums
Application Fee
- $35 per applicant if paid in person (money order or cashier’s check only)
- $36.40 per applicant if paid online via PayPal (includes 4% processing fee)
- Use your full name as the account number when paying online
- Applications with incorrect payment amounts will be considered incomplete

Veteran Home Repair Program
We are NOT accepting Veterans Home Repair Program applications at this time. Please regularly check our Facebook page and this website for updates.
The Veteran Home Repair Program serves veterans who are struggling to maintain the integrity of their home due to age, disability, or family circumstances.
All qualified repairs are FREE.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Individuals must be considered veterans by federal law. Servicemembers must have (1) served and completed active military, naval, air, or space service and (2) must be discharged from service under "other than dishonorable conditions".
- The home must be veteran-occupied.
- The home is in need of a minor/moderate repair that is within Habitat’s scope of work and the homeowner is unable to physically and/or financially complete the repair themselves.
