Yesterday, Habitat for Humanity of Madison County closed on Dianara’s home in our new subdivision off Meridian Street.  This is the third home Habitat has closed on in the new community and as with all our families, a special one.

Dianara and her child came to us a few years ago, through a partnership developed between Habitat and Lincoln Village Ministries.  Dianara, a single mother, was enrolled in the Evolve program, a temporary housing program for working families trying to build a life for themselves.  In 2019 she was accepted into Habitat’s program and in 2020, her home was the first home to get off the ground in our new community, on land we had purchased from Lincoln Village Ministries.

Yesterday, when I asked her what this opportunity meant for her, she said, “A path forward.”  Dianara and her family have a safe and very affordable home in a great community.  She has built herself, along with the help of so many generous individuals, groups, churches, and organizations, an opportunity to move forward into what is next.

We want to thank the city of Huntsville’s Community Development Office, First United Methodist Church, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Latham United Methodist Church, First Christian Church, our amazing donors, and the donors and shoppers at the Habitat ReStore for helping Dianara fulfill her dream of homeownership and give her an opportunity to blaze that path forward!
